Concha Jiménez (Seville, 1981) received her Master of Fine Arts from Seville University in 2003 where she studied printmaking and graphic design. She did two years’ specialization in screen-printing, lithography, etching, copperplate and woodcut. In 2001 she studied with Francois Maréchal, master of xylography, and Omar Kessel, master of lithography in CIEC (International and Contemporary Printmaking Center of A Coruña). Career:
Concha Jiménez received her Master of Fine Arts from Seville University in 2003 where she studied printmaking and graphic design. She did two years’ specialization in screen-printing, lithography, etching, copperplate and woodcut. In 2001 she studied with Francois Maréchal, master of xylography, and Omar Kessel, master of lithography in CIEC (International and Contemporary Printmaking Center of A Coruña). Since 2003 she has researched the fusion between digital image and xylography.
She earned her Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Granada University in 2004.
Later, she moved to England looking for the new trends in painting. In Manchester she got a studio on top of an offset printing works, where she stayed two years of arduous work. The first spring in England, she showed her works in numerous art fairs. While travelling around England she made many live portraits. This was because of her increasing interesting in portraits and figurative painting.
Also, Literature has always been an important part of Concha´s life and work. In 2006, she moved to Brighton, where took part in Brighton Independent Printmakers. At the same time, she studied creative bookbinding in Brighton University (2006).
She started to be involved in publishing books during 2007 when she studied for a Master degree in publishing books (Santillana publishing house and Salamanca University, Madrid) and she published her first visual poetry book. The same year, she started to manage her own little publishing house called “MandoCohete”.
Recently, she took part in a relevant workshop managed by one of the most important Spanish curators, Margarita Aizpuru, and called “Images in Contemporary Art: Photograph and Video” (Menéndez Pelayo University, Seville, 2010).
